6 Tips when moving to or from an apartment
1) Check with the superintendent if there are any policies when moving.
2) If the building has elevator access make sure to talk with your superintendent to make sure that the elevator is booked for service on the day of your move. At some buildings the superintendent will make sure there are blankets or padding surrounding the elevator to avoid damage to the elevator.
3) If your unit is a far distance to the elevator make sure to have trollies on hand. Some buildings may have moving trollies that you are able to borrow for your move.
4) If your apartment building has stairs and you happen to live on the 2nd or 3rd floor, it is always a good idea to have dollies with rubber tracks as it makes moving heavy items a lot more pleasant using less effort.
5) Make sure to have plenty of door stops on hand, because chances are you will be going in and out of a number of doors.
6) Talk with your superintendent to see if there are alternative doors besides the front doors to load or unload the truck. Most buildings have loading doors at the side or back of the building. These doors are convenient because they are usually in a low traffic area and they are usually double doors.
