To participate, you must register online on the Greener Homes Grant portal. Up to 700,000 grants will be available. Residents of Quebec and Nova Scotia need to apply directly through their provincial programs to book their EnerGuide evaluation and register. New Brunswick and British Columbia (West Kootenay) have requested that we direct residents in those provinces to go through the provincial program first to ensure homeowners can take advantage of the network of energy advisors already established in those provinces.
Your pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation is the next step in improving the energy efficiency of your home. This evaluation is mandatory before you undertake your retrofits and will be performed by an NRCan registered energy advisor.
After you receive your EnerGuide evaluation in the Greener Homes program from your energy advisor, you can review the recommendations and decide which retrofits work best for your budget and renovation plans.
You will need to complete at least one retrofit that is both eligible and recommended by your energy advisor. You can find the recommendations for your home in your Renovations Upgrade Report and through the Greener Homes program online.
After you have completed your home retrofits, you can start the reimbursement process. Y ou need to book your post-retrofit evaluation and submit the required documents online or by mail.
Once your evaluation is complete, your new EnerGuide label and a post-evaluation report will show you how much more energy-efficient your home has become.
