Office Packing Tips
- Unplug, disconnect and mark all wires and cables for easy assembly and reconnect.
- Moving small plants, deck clocks, pictures and other personal property is generally the responsibility of the employees that own them
- Most moving companies ask their customers to label all fragile boxes as fragile. It is always a good idea to do this and stack them separately from other moving boxes/containers.
- Back up all of your computer files using cloud storage or DVDs or other file storage disks/devices.
- Pack keyboard with cables, mouse, mouse pads, speakers, etc. Seal keyboard bag tightly and place a label on the outside.
- Small articles such as pencils, pens, scissors, paper clips, erasers, rubber bands, etc. should be placed in sealed envelopes which are then packed in cartons.
- Always check owner’s manual for specific directions with respect to moving electronic and computer equipment.
- Detach paper holders/feeders from printers and bubble wrap monitors and additional hardware.
- Ask everybody to pack their desk items & label them correctly.
- Lock file cabinets if you have the keys. If you don’t have a key, the cylinder lock on the files should be taped open to prevent inadvertent locking.
