1) Prepare a safe moving environment for the movers that you hire
Some moving companies steer clear of unsafe moving environments if there are renovations being done in a home. A good quality moving company know the importance of having great quality workers, and want them to stick around. Make sure there is a safe access into the home, especially if you are in the middle of construction of your front or back deck or stairs. One of our customers (Braden) was in this predicament just this month and constructed a solid ramp for us through his back patio door.
Doing construction to your driveway?
If possible make sure to get this done before having your movers show up with your items. If not this can lead to damaging your items in the moving truck if the load shifts because your driveway is not graded or uneven due to the construction activities.
MAKE AS MUCH SPACE YOU CAN!
Get all those construction materials out of the way! If construction materials are all over the place throughout your home and making it look like a yard sale it will make your movers frustrated. if it impedes your movers space and they accidentally drop an item, you risk a worker getting injured on your property and/or damaging your chattels.
