Here are few questions to ask when looking for a long distance moving company
- Does the moving company provide an exact day when movers will come to pack and transport your items? Is the company providing you with a delivery date?
- The charge to move from province to province is based on a combination of weight and mileage. Ask your mover how they determined the cost of your relocation, because every company may do it in their own specific way.
- A reliable moving company should be responsible for any damage that may occur during the relocation. Ask about the level of liability coverage offered. JR Moving Services can offer you a proof of insurance document upon request. We also differentiate from the rest by not charging our customers a deductible
- Get informed about the payment options that the company provides, it may be cash, debit, credit or cheque. Also figure out deposit policies, in most cases they will be non refundable.
- Is your moving company ELD compliant? The Ministry of Transportation requires all trucking companies that are transporting goods 160+KM away to log all driving hours using an electronic logging device. (ELD) Failure to do so will result in fines of $200-$20,000 and delays in your shipment. At JR Moving Services we are ELD compliant using the Cloudhawk ELD software system.
- Is your moving company CVOR compliant? The CVOR system tracks the on-road safety performance of the following vehicles: Trucks that have a gross weight or registered gross weight over 4,500 kg. (9,920 lb) Chances are you are using a vehicle of this size, and if the moving company you choose is not CVOR compliant you will run into delays in your shipment. The Ministry Of Transportation can impose fines as high as $50,000, drivers licence suspension, jail time or all of the above. The CVOR points list is a long one. If you run into this scenario you won’t be getting your goods anytime soon. At JR Moving Services we are more than happy to provide you a proof of CVOR certificate upon request.

I found JR Movers through BBB. They have an A+ rating and they didn’t disappoint. On my moving day, 3 movers showed up on time with a 1 hour text for arrival time. They were extremely efficient, yet fast. They were so friendly and helpful. We were moving to a new house which was not ready for 5 weeks after moving out. All our belongings were put into a storage locker. The builders kept changing closing date and Josh was so accommodating to fit the dates. The last time the date changed, I was given less than 24 hours notice on a Sunday. I emailed Josh to notify him of the change and asked how much I owed him for last minute cancellation He didn’t charge me anything. He responded on Sunday. Then I was given a last minute closing date. I emailed Josh what was his next availability. He told me he would come with one of his movers at 7:00 the following morning. He moved us as efficiently as our first experience. Josh is absolutely incredible. He is so accommodating, so friendly, so kind. He made an awful situation tolerable. Best experience I have ever had with any business. A+++

We recently used JR Moving services both to move things out of our home and back once the build was completed. They took great care of the furniture and more importantly, great care when replacing everything into the new home. They disassembled a couple of beds and reassembled them.
